How are we different?

Here is what makes us different from other innovation consulting firms:

  • We emphasize product vision. Most new product processes don't even have product vision or a proper ideation step on their chart.
  • We have a proprietary product vision framework we think is the best in the biz. It is evidence-based, and connects the dots from user insight to product vision to requirements and design. It allows for discourse about products, customers and competitors at a higher conceptual level that cuts to the essence of each, without getting bogged down in the details of design or technology.
  • We combine business, strategy and design sensibilities. Any one with out the others is missing something important.
  • We have a product design and technical pedigree. Product Vision Associates grew out of a 12-year-old design consultancy, and so we are experts at synthesizing customer needs and inventing compelling solutions for to address them. We understand technology, so we can see what is possible and judge what is economically feasible.
  • We are virtual consultancy. We provide just the skills you really need, from our network of the highest calibre independent providers. We don't have to overstaff your project to cover our overhead.
  • Our principal remains deeply involved in every engagement. We don't hand your critical strategic problems off to junior associates.
  • Our process is collaborative and multi-disciplinary. Everything works better when the team building the product is vested in the idea. We won't just run off and come back with the answers (unless that's what the situation calls for).
  • We make you smarter. We are not jealous with our framework. One of our goals is to make your team better at product vision. Training is implicit in the process and we intend our ideas and mindset to rub off on your team.
  • We may have been there already. We've done projects for dozens of clients and in dozens of domains, so we most likely have some transferable domain knowledge.
  • We take a risk management approach to new product innovation. Innovation is risky enough; it doesn't have to be made more so by pretending uncertainties don't exist.
